1961 Lotus Elite Serie 2
A very fast, lightweight, and reliable Lotus Elite ready for racing
The 1961 Lotus Elite is an iconic vehicle known for its innovative technology and elegant design. This model, with chassis number EB 1628, was originally manufactured in 1961 and belongs to the E period (1947-1961). The Elite was one of the first cars with a fiberglass monocoque construction, which made it particularly light and aerodynamic. With a displacement of 1216 cc, it was a technical masterpiece.
This vehicle was completely overhauled in the winter of 2024/25 without any expense spared and was fitted with a new 1216 cc “Crosthwaite & Gardiner” engine in May 2025 which has a Dino ouput power of 127 HP. (Invoices, pictures and detailed description for CHF 218,000 are available).
It is equipped with an FIA pass valid until December 31, 2027, and has a UK V5 registration document. The vehicle was raced inthe "Le Mans Classic 2025" event and then again in Imola and Paul Ricard. Since its complete restoration, it has only been driven for 8 hours.
The FIA Fuel cell, the Tillet seat and the seat belts are valid until 20230.
This makes it particularly attractive for historic racing events. The Lotus Elite was known for its excellent road holding and was often appreciated by enthusiasts and racing drivers. Its design and performance have made it a classic that is still sought after by collectors and lovers of historic vehicles today.
